Future Teachers Earn Rossetti Scholarships

The Andrew D. Rossetti Scholarship Fund Committee awarded $2,500 scholarships to two high school seniors who plan to pursue careers in teaching.
- Kalli Munroe, from Vernon Verona Sherrill, plans to study Elementary Education at St. Bonaventure University. She is the daughter of Scott and Reagan Munroe of Sherrill.
- Elizabeth Shaver, from Stockbridge Valley, plans to study Music Education at SUNY Fredonia. She is the daughter of James and Julie Shaver of Oneida.
The Rossetti Scholarships, awarded this year on June 3, were created in 1988 to honor Andrew D. Rossetti, an Oneida resident and District Superintendent of the Madison-Oneida BOCES from 1973 to 1984. Rossetti, also a former Vernon Verona Sherrill superintendent, had a lifelong passion for teaching.
Rossetti’s wife, Lillian, presented the awards and spoke about the scholarship’s namesake. MOBOCES District Superintendent Scott Budelmann and two past scholarship recipients – 2022 Stockbridge Valley graduate Rachel Mennig and 2025 Canastota graduate Sydney Owens – also addressed the award winners and their families about the value of a career in education. Rossetti also acknowledged Elizabeth Shaver’s mother, a 1994 Rossetti Scholarship recipient.
