  • HVAC studentTechnical and hands-on approach to obtaining the skills required to be employed as a HVAC technician, now including a unit on ductwork. Students will learn how to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair both residential and commercial systems. First Aid/CPR, OSHA-10, and EPA certification test for refrigerant and recovery included. Purchase of textbook and toolkit required.

  • HEO studentThe focus of this course is hands-on experience with a dozer, loader, backhoe, skid steer excavator, and dump truck. Includes practical machinery care and daily maintenance. Student must provide suitable clothing for the operation of this machinery. Valid driver’s license is required. First Aid/CPR and OSHA-10 included. Purchase of textbook and safety equipment required.

    • Hard hat

    • Safety glasses 

    It is imperative students be dressed in suitable clothing for working on heavy equipment/machinery – work boots, decent socks, clothing that will not get caught in machinery, etc… if you are unsure of appropriate attire for Heavy Equipment Operation, please consult your instructor for guidance.

  • Electrical StudentThis program prepares students with foundational knowledge in electricity suitable to entry-level employment or an apprenticeship program. Students will receive training in Basic Shop Math, hand & power tools, precision measuring instruments, electrical blueprints, the National Electric Code standards and practices, electrical theory, conduit bending, motors, and NEMA designations. First Aid/CPR and OSHA-10 included. Purchase of toolkit and textbook required.

    • 1 Multi Meter – when selecting Multi Meter, choose an Averaging or RMS type meter. There is no reason to spend a lot on a meter. (Lowes Kobalt meter 3 pk would be fine item 2545066 or equivalent) If you do not have a meter by first class that is fine, we can talk about it then.

     

    When selecting tools, it is recommended that you choose quality brands when possible, such as Klein, Milwaukee, Channellock, Craftsman, Irwin, Ideal, Woods, Southwire, Knipex, Kobalt, Huskey, etc.

    You may purchase pliers from Harbor Freight, however we recommend only the DOYLE line. Do not purchase Harbor Freight Pittsburgh brand, quality is poor.

    Dress attire for Lab: Long or short sleeve shirts, slacks or jeans, NO SHORTS in Lab at any time. Safety glasses to be worn in Lab area at all times. Work boots are needed in the lab area as well. Sneakers or walking shoes are not allowed unless they are a steel toe safety shoe.

    We will go over this list and answer any of you questions on the first night.

  • Welding studentPreparation for entry-level employment and the American Welding Society certification examination. The hands-on practical experience in the welding class includes safety, introduction to machine setup, in-depth instruction in tig, stick Mig, Arc welding, cutting, shearing, and fabrication. After introductory concepts are covered, the program shifts its focus to hands-on pracice, processing, and focusing on refining welding techniques. First Aid/CPR and OSHA-10 included.   • Carpentry studentLearn the skills necessary for entry level employment including introduction to material selection, layout practices, basic geometry, load calculations, tool usage and safety. Participate in framing walls and roofs, installing windows, doors, and siding, and cutting trim. Gain knowledge in proper workplace communication and the importance of building relationships with other trades. First Aid/CPR and OSHA-10 included. Purchase of toolkit and textbook required.
