  • MOBOCES houses the Mohawk Regional Information Center (MORIC), one of 12 statewide information centers that offer instructional and administrative technology support, technology purchasing, data analysis and professional development services to participating schools. MORIC serves 50 school districts and 4 BOCES in a five-county region.

  • We maintain dozens of partnerships with school districts, colleges, businesses, government agencies and area non-profits. These partners offer our students internship experiences; provide mental health and wellness services and resources to students, staff and families; and serve on advisory committees that ensure our programs and services meet current workforce needs.

  • We actively participate in statewide committees, initiatives and projects that help bring a broad range of expertise to our region. Our programs have been recognized for excellence and service at the regional, state and national levels.

  • Our main campus is located in Verona, NY, and houses our district offices as well as middle school, high school and adult education programs. • Secondary level special education classes are housed at VVS Middle School.
    • Adult Education programs are offered in Oneida, Rome, New Hartford and Utica in addition to Verona.

Beyond the Classroom

One of the ways we help districts educate students is by providing them with a variety of non-instructional support services, so they can place a greater focus on the classroom.

Work we do outside of the classroom includes:

  • Offering hundreds of professional development opportunities for teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, librarians, administrators and other vital school employees.

  • Facilitating more than two dozen regional committees and Professional Learning Groups to support cross-district connections and alignment.

  • Providing maintenance, repairs and compliance work for school buses and vehicles from 11 districts and agencies.

  • Providing centralized printing, copying and graphics services for teachers and principals.

  • Leading districts through contract negotiations with muliple bargaining units and advising school leaders on state and federal workplace policies and regulations.

  • Supporting Boards of Education and neighboring BOCES centers by facilitating searches for new superintendents.

  • Managing core business office functions, like payroll and accounts payable/receivable, and distributing required tax forms on behalf of local districts.
