  • Basic Electricity Tool Kit – 2024

    • 1 Multi Meter – when selecting Multi Meter, choose an Averaging or RMS type meter. There is no reason to spend a lot on a meter. (Lowes Kobalt meter 3 pk would be fine item 2545066 or equivalent) If you do not have a meter by first class that is fine, we can talk about it then

    Verona Campus Students will need to also purchase the following breaker: 1 GE 15amp Arc Breaker with pig tail neutral MUST BE GENERAL ELECTRIC BRAND

     

    When selecting tools, it is recommended that you choose quality brands when possible, such as Klein, Milwaukee, Channellock, Craftsman, Irwin, Ideal, Woods, Southwire, Knipex, Kobalt, Huskey, etc.

    You may purchase pliers from Harbor Freight, however we recommend only the DOYLE line. Do not purchase Harbor Freight Pittsburgh brand, quality is poor.

    Dress attire for Lab: Long or short sleeve shirts, slacks or jeans, NO SHORTS in Lab at any time. Safety glasses to be worn in Lab area at all times. Work boots are needed in the lab area as well. Sneakers or walking shoes are not allowed unless they are a steel toe safety shoe.

    We will go over this list and answer any of you questions on the first night.

  • All Carpentry students should have the following on the first night of class:

  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Program (HVAC)

    • 4-way screwdriver
    • Linesmen pliers
    • Needle nose pliers
    • Wire strippers
    • Multi-meter (reads volts, amps, and ohms)
    • 10 in adjustable wrench
    • Hammer
    • Allen wrenches
    • Hacksaw
    • Groove Joint pliers
    • Safety glasses
    • 12 ft steel tape
    • Refrigerate gauges (must be rated for R-22 and 410a)
    • Low loss refrigerate fittings
    • Service valve wrench

    Per the Instructor:  You do not need all of the tools right away. The first four items on the list is what will be necessary during the first month.  

  • Students in the Heavy Equipment Operation program will need the following by the first day of class:

    • Hard hat
    • Work gloves
    • Safety glasses 

     

    It is imperative students be dressed in suitable clothing for working on heavy equipment/machinery – work boots, decent socks, clothing that will not get caught in machinery, etc… if you are unsure of appropriate attire for Heavy Equipment Operation, please consult your instructor for guidance.  

  • All Welding students must have the following on the first night of class: 

    • Welding helmet with number 10 shade
    • Safety glasses
    • Work boots
    • Long pants
    • Heavy, long-sleeved shirt
    • Welding jacket
    • Welding gloves
