Annual Meeting Celebrates Student Achievements

School board members and administrators from the region attended MOBOCES’ 58th Annual Meeting, which celebrated the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding. Students from our programs and from districts across the region shared projects and discussed the importance of this historic event.
In his welcome remarks, District Superintendent Scott Budelmann drew parallels between the American Revolution and the work happening locally to support individualized pathways to student achievement.
“We’re still working toward our greatest potential, but our revolution empowered individuals to take control of their lives,” he said. “That same spirit is alive in our region. We have students choosing their own career pathways, engaging in hands-on learning, taking meaningful steps towards their futures. And tonight, we celebrate their journey.”
Our Culinary Arts and Advanced Culinary Experience students planned, cooked and served a delicious plated dinner and dessert, and prepared boxes of cookies for guests to take home. Student musicians from Stockbridge Valley provided entertainment for the evening, and Culinary Arts senior LilyAnn Avery, from Canastota, led the room in the Pledge of Allegiance.
In addition to budget and program information, those in attendance had an opportunity to hear from candidates for the MOBOCES board: Richard Engelbrecht of Madison, Craig Brown of Morrisville-Eaton, and Patrick Baron of Vernon Verona Sherrill. All three candidates are incumbents running for three-year terms beginning July 1.
