In the Heavy Equipment Operation program, students learn to safely operate backhoes, loaders, bulldozers, graders, excavators, and other equipment used for building and highway construction and excavation. Students study and practice safety, construction theory, operator maintenance, equipment operation, basic surveying and more.
A full array of modern equipment affords students opportunities to apply what they have learned in class to actual work sites. Step-by-step instruction in the operation of equipment is provided, culminating in an internship with a local employer. In addition, students apply concepts in physics, material dynamics, math and soil science.
