This course prepares you to work in a professional office or ambulatory setting in the delivery of quality healthcare service. The course includes an introduction to Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and the functional roles of the Medical Assistant.
Additional topics include introductory medical office policy and procedures, basic vital sign measurements, medical asepsis, barrier precautions and infection control, assisting with examinations and diagnostic testing, plus office laboratory procedures and specimen handling. Course includes a 2-year American Heart Association CPR/AED certification.
The 63- hour clinical externship is required for class completion, and is scheduled after the 227- hour classroom portion and course examinations are completed.
Upon completion of the externship, students are eligible to sit for 2 National Certificates!
- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA)
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
