Professions NEW

Professions

Professions is a one-year program for high school seniors interested in exploring specific, unique career paths while completing college-level coursework. Through the Professions class, students will gain academic knowledge, solid technical work skills and professionalism to give them a competitive advantage in their postsecondary pursuits.

From October through May, students participate in an extended internship experience, typically spending three class days per week at their work site and returning to campus for classroom instruction on the other two days each week.

This program is located on the MOBOCES Verona campus. Transportation is provided to campus, but students must have their own transportation to and from their internship sites.

This program is part of our New Visions track, which emphasizes college preparation alongside work-based learning opportunities. These specialized, one-year courses are limited to seniors and require students to participate in an application and interview process. Interested students should:

  • Demonstrate academic competency (an 85/B average or higher is recommended)
  • Have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated
  • Possess a commitment to excellence
  • Show an interest in wanting to interact with professionals in the field
