Central New York Community Foundation Grants - For Madison and Onondaga Counties
  • The Allen Speiser Memorial Vocational Rehabilitation.Mission is to strengthen and support efforts that advance and have a positive impact on vocational rehabilitation services. Vocational rehabilitation is the process of assisting people with any disabling condition to acquire the social, educational and work skills that will lead to employment. The Fund offers grants to support special projects, make new investments, provide additional staff training - filling in the gaps that aren't covered by government sources or other private funding. The Fund provides up to $2,000 per award, or $4,000 for collaborative projects involving two or more agencies that support education and employment opportunities for people with disabilities and raises awareness of the employment potential of people with disabilities in Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga, Oswego and Cortland counties.
  • Dorothy R. Shoudy Memorial Hearing Impaired Fund. Dorothy Shoudy, a long-time resident of Central New York who dedicated her life to teaching others, stipulated the formation of this fund in her will to benefit the hearing impaired of Central New York. Programs that will benefit include those providing sign language interpreters in schools and at performing arts events, as well as special programs for hearing impaired students at local school districts.
  • Christine S. Nazzaro Memorial Fund. In memory of this young mother and teacher, family and friends established this fund to support special education programs and projects in Central New York.
