Students Complete Projects With Madison County
Posted on 05/28/2020

Two students in the New Visions Law, Government and Public Administration class continued their internship work with Madison County offices while schools have been closed, completing the service projects they began earlier in the year.

New Visions Law & Government is a new one-year program for seniors, run in partnership with Madison County. Classes are held at the Madison County Office Building and students take a in-depth look at different departments and the inner workings of local government, county courts and other agencies. Part of the program includes designing, developing, executing and evaluating a community action project of their own choosing.

Emily Case, from Canastota, interned with the county’s Department of Social Services. She coordinated a personal and hygiene product drive to collect items that DSS employees could donate to local residents in need.

Hayley Patane, also of Canastota, interned with the Department of Mental Health. She coordinated a toy drive to collect items for the newly remodeled playroom within the department. Hayley was also involved in re-designing the layout of the playroom.
