CTE Signing Day

CTE Celebrates Students, Businesses During Signing Day
Posted on 06/09/2021

MOBOCES hosted its first-ever Signing Day to celebrate the achievements of 15 CTE students who have been offered employment from the businesses where they completed their senior year internships.

The students represent eight school districts and eight different CTE programs.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for these students to be able to go right from high school to a skilled employment position in their chosen field, CTE leaders said. They also thanked business and industry partners that continue to work with MOBOCES students and programs to provide valuable learning opportunities for students.

signing dayThe idea for Signing Day was put forth two years ago, when 42 students were offered employment directly resulting from their internships. The event was not held last year due to the pandemic.

This year, pandemic restrictions limited internships for students, but many still received valuable placements at local businesses, and 13 of those businesses have already committed to hiring MOBOCES students.

Rather than a large ceremony, representatives from each business were invited to campus at a specific time, along with the student they will be hiring, for a personalized recognition and individual celebration.

In keeping with the spirit of “hands-on learning” in CTE, a student from the Graphic Design program served as the event photographer, and Culinary Arts students made cupcakes for the students and business representatives.
